Bhubaneswar: There will be no disruption in children’s education during the summer vacation. Students will continue their studies at home and complete the homework assigned by schools. For this, separate WhatsApp groups have been created for students of different grades. These groups will be further enhanced by the use of a chatbot.
During the holidays, the chatbot will send lessons and clarify doubts via WhatsApp. It has already been made functional online, and instructions have been given to complete this setup by the 30th. Discussions have also been held on this initiative.
Keeping in mind the intense heatwave, the state government declared early school holidays starting from the 23rd of the month. According to the academic calendar, holidays were supposed to start from May 6, but for the safety of students, the break was advanced.
Through WhatsApp, students will receive audio-visual educational content. Essentially, Chatbot will continue to teach students during the summer break. The chatbot number will be added to the WhatsApp groups and made an admin.
Audio-visual homework assignments will be sent to students from Class 1 to Class 8. The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has issued letters to all District Education Officers regarding this.
The School and Mass Education Department is prepared to ensure students’ learning is not hindered during the summer holidays. In a recent parent-teacher meeting, discussions were held about continuing education during the vacation.
Daily lessons will be shared with useful videos and audio recordings of teachers explaining the material. Students will be encouraged to make good use of the holidays while continuing their studies. The chatbot in the WhatsApp group will also help resolve any doubts the students may have. Teachers will also monitor the daily progress of lessons.
As per the directive, headmasters are instructed to add the designated Chatbot number (provided by OSEPA) for their block into the WhatsApp groups and make it an admin. These groups will be organized by grade, and the names of the groups will be updated accordingly.
The group names will include the class and the school’s U-DISE number. The entire process is to be completed by tomorrow.
