Jaypore: Restricted entry will be imposed in the Satiguda Dam restricted area. Vehicular movement on the dam road will be prohibited. As an alternative, a bridge will be constructed near the dam spillway.
Soil Testing Before Estimating Costs
Dam Road to be Restricted Area
Once the bridge is built, people in the surrounding areas will be able to travel to the city conveniently. Before the construction begins, a soil test will be conducted. If the soil is found suitable, a cost estimate will be prepared, according to Assistant Engineer Shakti Bhuyan from the Irrigation Department.
Project Overview
The existing road over the dam is not meant for motor vehicles, but since some villages in the area lack proper connectivity, people are currently using it for commuting. To provide a safe alternative route, a bridge will be constructed on the eastern side of the dam. Once the bridge is completed, the existing road on the dam will be closed. This will ensure that villagers face no inconvenience in traveling to the city.
A soil test at the proposed construction site will be conducted soon, and once the report is received, the cost estimation will be finalized. After the tendering process, construction will commence.
Currently, two parks are under construction near the dam. One park was partially completed earlier, and the remaining work is now being finished. A new park is also under construction. Once both parks are completed, the area will become a major attraction in the city. Proper maintenance arrangements will be made, and the area is expected to see more visitors than before.
Considering these developments and the convenience of nearby villagers, the decision has been made to construct a bridge near the spillway.
