Gop: Several developmental projects that were stalled during the previous government’s tenure are now being revived. One such project is the renovation of the Nayahat-Nagpur road under the Gop block in Puri district. The Odisha government has entrusted the Works Department with the responsibility of its reconstruction. The department has initiated significant efforts to upgrade the road, which connects key business hubs in the region.
The 21 km stretch between Nayahat and Nagpur serves as a crucial link for thousands of people daily. However, for years, the road remained in a deteriorated condition. Both Nagpur and Nayahat are major trading centers in the Gop block, and the poor road conditions had severely impacted transportation and commerce.
After the BJP government came to power, Deputy Chief Minister Srimati Prabhat Parida took the initiative to improve the road. On February 27, she laid the foundation stone for the renovation project. With an estimated cost of ₹6.35 crore, the work has commenced with full force under the supervision of the assigned contractor and engineers.
Given the poor condition of the road, initial efforts are focused on repairing the damaged sections before proceeding with the full resurfacing. The contractor agency, under the guidance of engineers, has accelerated the construction work. Officials have assured that within a year, the road will be transformed into a well-developed and smooth pathway, ensuring better connectivity for the people relying on it.
The Works Department and engineers have stated that the project will be completed as per the designated guidelines and timeline.
