Naveen to Address Rally on 15th; BJD Mulls Extending Padayatra Duration

Bhubaneswar, 14th Aug 2025: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is set to intensify its programs. Very soon, the party president, Naveen Patnaik, will address the rally at Maidan. According to sources, he may participate in the event organized at Shankh Bhavan on Independence Day, August 15, and hoist the national flag. The party is reportedly making extensive preparations for this.

Naveen had gone to Mumbai on June 20 for treatment of cervical arthritis. He underwent surgery in Mumbai on June 22 and was discharged from the hospital on July 7. He returned to Bhubaneswar on July 12 after regaining good health. Following medical advice, he has been resting at home for a few more days. For a long time, Naveen had not participated in any public or party events, and party leaders and workers were eagerly awaiting his presence. In recent days, as the party extended its programs, Naveen’s appearance on stage would further boost the morale of party leaders and workers.

Naveen is likely to be present among party leaders and workers on August 15. However, the party has not yet issued any formal announcement regarding this.

Looking ahead, the party plans to expand its organizational activities. As every year, starting from October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), the BJD will begin its public outreach Padayatra. This time, the party plans to give it a larger scale. While the annual Padayatra usually continues from October 2 to 11, the party is now considering extending it for more days. It may take place in two phases over the month, covering all constituencies. Naveen may also participate in this Padayatra.
