Malkangiri, Jan, 17:The “Vande Mataram” programme was held today at the Korukonda Block Office in Malkangiri district. This special programme is being observed across the country to mark the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” the national song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. On this occasion, the event was organized today within the premises of the Korukonda Block Office.
The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Korukonda Block BDO Amulya Kumar Sahu. Among the other dignitaries present were Korukonda Block Chairman Jitu Burudi, Block Education Officer Asit Mishra, MP’s representative Akshay Swain, Malkangiri MLA’s representative Munya Madkami, Chitrakonda MLA’s representative Binayak Patra, Korukonda LAMPS President Salu Khol, Samiti member Parshuram Khemundu, and several others.
The programme began with the offering of floral tributes and prayers to Lord Jagannath by the dignitaries present. Following this, all the guests and attendees stood together and sang the national song “Vande Mataram.” At the same time, a video of the national song was screened through an LED display.
Various discussions were held on the significance of the national song during the programme. Students who had participated and achieved distinction in the debate and quiz competitions organized earlier in local schools were felicitated and awarded prizes by the dignitaries.
Arrangements for lunch were made at noon, after which the participants returned to their respective homes.
