National Deworming Day Observed in Nabarangpur to Promote Child Health

Nabarangpur: The district-level National Deworming Day – 2025 (February Round) was inaugurated at Raja Chaitanya Dev Government High School. On this occasion, key officials such as Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Chhatrapati Sahu, District Education Officer, Droupadi Kahnar, District Social Welfare Officer, Manoj Kumar Behera, District Information and Public Relations Officer, and Sushanta Praharaj, DPM of NHM, attended as distinguished guests.

The CDMO explained to all the students present the purpose of Deworming Day, the benefits of deworming tablets, preventive measures against parasitic worms, and the importance of preventing anemia. All the guests emphasized how consuming deworming tablets can help individuals stay physically and mentally fit, improve their academic performance, and promote awareness through campaigns. The event was officially launched by distributing deworming tablets to the students.

Target Groups for Deworming:

All children and adolescents aged 1 to 19 years, as well as women aged 20 to 24 years (who are not pregnant or lactating), will be administered deworming medication during this campaign.

In Nabarangpur district, deworming syrup will be given to approximately 1,19,231 children under 5 years old.

Deworming tablets will be provided to around 3,01,323 children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years.

Nearly 34,500 women aged 20 to 24 years (excluding pregnant and lactating women) will also receive the deworming tablets.

For those children, adolescents, and reproductive-age women (20-24 years) who miss the deworming dose, a follow-up deworming session will be conducted on 15.02.2025.
