Nabarangpur, Feb, 14:  The district-level National Deworming Day (February 2026 Round) was inaugurated today at the local PM Shri Raja Chaitanya Dev Government Nodal High School.

On this occasion, Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Malay Pradhan, District Education Officer Chhatrapati Sahu, DMO Dr. Sushant Satpathy, ADMO Dr. Malay Tripathy, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, and other dignitaries were present as guests.

ADMO Dr. Tripathy explained in detail to the students the objectives of National Deworming Day, the benefits of consuming deworming tablets, preventive measures against worm infections, anemia, and the importance of hygiene. The guests emphasized that taking deworming tablets helps individuals remain physically and mentally fit, improves academic performance, and creates awareness through proper publicity and outreach. The program was formally inaugurated with the guests administering deworming tablets to the students.

The main objective of observing this day is to reduce the harmful effects of worm infections and support overall development by ensuring mass consumption of deworming syrup or tablets at the community level.

Deworming medicines will be administered to:
All children and adolescents aged 1 to 19 years, and
Women aged 20 to 24 years (excluding pregnant and lactating mothers).

In Nabarangpur district:

Approximately 1,13,353 children below 5 years of age will be given deworming syrup.
3,28,960 children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years will receive deworming tablets.
Around 35,876 women aged 20 to 24 years (excluding pregnant and lactating mothers) will be administered deworming medicine.
The administration of deworming tablets/syrup will be ensured under the direct supervision of health workers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and trained teachers across all blocks and urban areas of the district. This will cover 2,306 Anganwadi centers and 1,965 government and private schools.
Students of RCD School, along with DPM (NHM) Shankar Acharya, ADPHCO Ramhari Panda, health department staff, media representatives, and school teachers, were also present at the meeting.
