National Deworming Day is observed across the country on February 10. Through this initiative, the overall health, nutritional status, education, and quality of life of children can be improved. This day was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The objective of this day is to deworm all children aged 1 to 19 years through government/government-aided/private schools and Anganwadi centers. It is noteworthy that India has the highest number of children affected by worm infections globally. According to an estimate by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2014, more than 220 million children aged 1-14 years in India are at risk. It is important to note that worms live in the human intestines and destroy essential nutrients required by the body.
