Nabarangpur, Feb 23: An Atal Bus Stand will be constructed in Nabarangpur. The new bus stand will be built at the site of the existing bus stand. A budget of ₹50 crore has been allocated for the project, and it will be a four-storey structure. The target is to complete construction within the next two years. Until the new terminal is completed, a temporary bus stand will function at the old market ground near the old police station, as decided in a coordination meeting.
The meeting was held at Ashok Mehta Hall under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheswar Swain. Among those present were CDO Biranchi Narayan Darwan, Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar Khuntia, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, RTO Jitendra Bhoi, Municipal Executive Officer Dr. Ashok Kumar Karna, DTM Santosh Kumar Nayak of OSRTC, Private Bus Owners’ Association President Prakash Tripathy, and advocate Gopal Satapathy, along with other officials.
A High Court case is currently pending regarding the stalls located inside the present bus stand premises. Out of 86 stalls in the old bus stand area, a municipal survey found that only 43 are operational, while the rest remain closed.

Ground floor: Parking space for both government and private buses
Around 100 stalls to be constructed
Priority will be given to existing stall owners
Facilities to include police outpost, dormitory, toilets, and modern passenger seating arrangements
The construction will be carried out by the Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation. The District Collector also directed officials to increase stall sizes and prepare a revised modern design plan.
