Nabarangpur / 20th Sept 2025: A district-level tree plantation campaign named “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” (One Tree in the Name of Mother) has been launched in Nabarangpur district, with support from the District Administration, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, and the Forest & Environment Department.
The campaign was inaugurated on Wednesday at the District Collector’s Office premises, with MP Balabhadra Majhi attending as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included:
- Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi
- District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swaain
- Superintendent of Police Sandeep Sampad Madkar
- Additional District Magistrate (General) Tapan Kumar Khuntia
- CDO Biranju Narayan Darwan
- DFO Shubhendra Kumar Behera
A record 3,48,121 saplings were planted at 7,844 locations across the district.
The District Collector thanked all officers, employees, individuals, and institutions who contributed to the success of this initiative.
Participants were asked to upload a photo of their tree plantation activity to the “Meri Life” portal. The campaign promotes awareness about the need for a pollution-free environment, clean oxygen, and a green and healthy earth.
To commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, MP Balabhadra Majhi emphasized making this occasion memorable by turning the dream of a green and beautiful earth into a reality. He later visited the Miyawaki Herbal Garden nearby and planted saplings there as well.
He also inaugurated a blood donation camp organized by the Terapakha Yuvak Parishad at Chirayu Medical Store near Shirdi Sai Temple.
The event witnessed participation from public representatives, school and college students, teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, SHG women, forest committees, government employees, social workers, and the general public—all uniting for a greener tomorrow.
Umerkote (Jamarunda)
At Jamarunda Government Higher Secondary School, under the supervision of Principal Ghanshyam Majhi and leadership of District Eco Club Head Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, students along with their mothers participated in tree plantation. The school’s Green Army, teachers, and the School Management Committee coordinated the event. First-year students were also welcomed on this occasion.
Tentulikhunti Block
In Tentulikhunti block, BJP Mandal President Prashant Nayak, along with Abhimanyu and other BJP workers, carried out plantation drives at multiple locations. They planted trees at:
Lamataguda Shiv Temple Premises
BDO Office in Ammabhata
Anchalagumma Panchayat Office
Block Office Premises
A total of 7,500 saplings were planted in all 15 panchayats of the block.
Supply Inspector Rohit Majhi planted trees at Gouda Deopalli and Barangpadar Panchayat, while PIOs Pratap Rudra Sadangi and Bikash Samal confirmed that plantation work in their respective areas had been successfully completed.
