Nabarangpur, Jan, 16:  A preparatory meeting for the district-level celebration of the 77th Republic Day, 2026 was held today at the Mission Shakti Conference Hall, Nabarangpur, under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (General) Tapan Kumar Khuntia, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Barman, Chief Development Officer, Zilla Parishad Biranchi Narayan Darwan, Municipal Chairperson Kunu Nayak, Superintendent of Police Saroj Poonam Kismota, officials from various departments, representatives of educational institutions, intellectuals, and members of the media.
Welcoming all participants, the District Collector emphasized that the 77th Republic Day should be celebrated in a well-planned, peaceful and enthusiastic manner with everyone’s cooperation. District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera read out the detailed program schedule.

4:30 AM – Ramdhun
7:30 AM – Floral tributes at statues of great leaders in the town
7:30 AM – Hoisting of the National Flag at all government and private institutions
8:30 AM – Hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Guest followed by the main address
Other Arrangements

The meeting discussed arrangements for barricading, road and drainage cleaning, traffic control, law and order, parade rehearsals, mass parade, distribution of fruits and sweets, competitions, departmental tableaux, fire safety, a 20-over friendly cricket match, drinking water, ambulance services, blood donation camp, and sports events.
People who have made outstanding contributions in sports, education and other fields and brought laurels to the district will be felicitated. Government buildings and streets will be illuminated and decorated, with temporary power supply, cultural programmes and prize distribution arranged.

Responsibilities were assigned to the PWD, Municipality, Health Department, Police, Horticulture, Sports Department, PHED, Information & Public Relations, Supply Department, Education, Social Welfare, Culture, District Transport Office, ST & SC Development, Agriculture, Labour, Child Protection, Watershed Department, Bus Owners’ Association and Traders’ Association.

This year, 28 platoons from various schools and colleges will participate in the parade. Parade rehearsals will be held at Nabarangpur Stadium on 22nd, 23rd and 24th January 2026 at 8:00 AM.

The Municipal Chairperson appealed for everyone’s cooperation to ensure the celebration is grand, attractive and peaceful. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the DIPRO.
