Nabarangpur, Jan, 03: In a proud development, farmers from Umarkot in Nabarangpur district have, for the first time, directly exported their produce to international markets. The hard work, perseverance, and efforts of these self-reliant farmers are now reaching global consumers. The government has provided support for this initiative, and Villa Mart Pvt. Ltd. has also assisted in the process.
Currently, these farmers have sent a consignment of onions, French beans, potatoes, leafy cabbage, and amritbhandar directly to Dubai for the first time. With the cooperation of the Horticulture Department, the initial 1,000 kg consignment was shipped from Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar. Farmers from Umarkot and Raighar blocks are now also gaining better employment opportunities through this venture.
The farmers have expressed that in the future, they will work together to increase exports abroad, opening global market opportunities where they can directly sell their produce and increase their income. This initial effort is expected to connect many farmers and farmer groups from the region to international markets. In the coming days, farmers from Nabarangpur are expected to reach national and international markets on a larger scale.
