Nabarangpur,3rd Nov 2025: A district-level road safety committee meeting was held at the Ashok Meheta Auditorium in the District Collectorate. The meeting was chaired by the District Collector, Dr. Maheshwar Swain. Key attendees included SP Sandeep Sampad, Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, and Regional Transport Officer Jitendra Kumar Bhoi.

At the meeting, the District Collector welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of making Nabarangpur an accident-free district. He urged all participants to share their opinions on the matter. The Regional Transport Officer, Mr. Bhoi, conducted the meeting according to the agenda.

As per government instructions, various road safety programs will be carried out in the district from November 1 to 15 under the theme “Zero Accidents, Zero Fatalities.”

The committee discussed strict enforcement measures against:

  • Drunk driving,
  • Driving without wearing a helmet or seatbelt,
  • Driving without a license,
  • Carrying passengers in goods vehicles,
  • Overspeeding, and
  • Traffic violations.

Departments such as National Highways, Roads & Buildings, Education, Urban Development, and OSRTC will work together on these initiatives.

The District Collector issued strict instructions to remove stray animals like cattle from national and state highways, repair and illuminate roads such as the Dussehra Chowk to Hospital Road, and take strict action including fines against illegally parked vehicles on national highways.

The meeting was attended by all members of the District Road Safety Committee, R&B officials, DIPRO Manoj Behera, Executive Officers, municipal officials, OSRTC representatives, senior journalists, and community leaders including Bank Bihari Bishoyi.
