Nabarangpur, Dec 19: Like every year, the District-Level Cultural Folk Festival “Mandei 2025” is being celebrated this year as well with great grandeur and enthusiasm in Nabarangpur district. The festival aims to preserve, promote, and showcase local talent through art and culture.

Before the commencement of the festival, Nabarangpur District Collector and Chairman of the District Cultural Council, Dr. Maheshwar Sai, along with Cabinet Minister Nityanand Gond (School & Mass Education, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare), Rajya Sabha MP Mujibulla Khan, Lok Sabha MP Balabhadra Majhi, Dabugan MLA Manohar Randhari, Nabarangpur MLA Gaurishankar Majhi, Jharigaon MLA Narsingh Bhatra, Zilla Parishad President Matiram Nayak, and several other eminent personalities and intellectuals of the district attended the inaugural ceremony.

After offering prayers at the Maa Bhandargharani Temple, a traditional cultural procession carrying the divine blessings of the Goddess moved through the town. Upon reaching the Mandei ground, the idol of the tribal symbolic figures Bhima–Bhimani was ceremonially installed near the venue. Following this, the Mandei Festival was formally inaugurated as per traditional rituals.

The festival, which commenced on December 12, will continue until December 16. This year, special emphasis has been placed on cultural performances and the Pallishree Mela, highlighting rural art, culture, and local produce.
