Nabarangpur District Administration Observes National Press Day with Enthusiasm

Nabarangpur:  19th Nov 2025:  The Nabarangpur District Administration, in collaboration with the District Information and Public Relations Department, observed the district-level National Press Day at the local Mission Shakti Sanghatan Hall.

The event began with floral tributes, incense, lamp lighting, and coconut-breaking rituals near the idols of Jagatnath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. Members of Parliament, MLAs, and all journalists present were welcomed with garlands and handshakes.

The programme was presided over by District Collector (General) Tapan Kumar Khutia. The chief guest of the event was Lok Sabha MP Balabhadra Majhi, while Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi attended as the distinguished guest. He appreciated the role of the media as vigilant guardians of democracy and as guides in providing justice to the common people.

The MP himself remarked that he also works as a journalist by reporting district news to the Parliament, thereby contributing to problem-solving. Nabarangpur Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak also participated as an honored guest.

The key speaker, retired professor, writer, and researcher Dr. Bijay Kumar Mishra, emphasized that the media should amplify the voices of marginalized communities at the grassroots level.

On this occasion, a panel discussion titled “Preserving Media Credibility in the Context of the Spread of Misleading News” was organized, where eminent speakers and media representatives shared their views.

MP Balabhadra Majhi, the chief guest, highlighted the importance of the media in presenting fair and impartial news, ensuring that neglected and disadvantaged sections of society receive justice.

The entire event was coordinated by District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera, with support from Dillip Kumar Mallik, Subrat Bishoyi, Neelakantha Nayak, and Bighnaraj Majhi. Various competitions were also held during the occasion, and meritorious students were awarded for their achievements.
