Nabarangpur Celebrates District-Level International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm

Nabarangpur  – The district-level International Yoga Day was celebrated today at the local Mandei Padia ground in Nabarangpur. On this occasion, a grand yoga session was organized, where the District Collector Dr. Shubhamahapatra, attending as the chief guest, encouraged everyone present to adopt yoga for a healthy life.

Among the dignitaries present were SP Dr. Sandeep Sampat, Additional District Collector (Revenue) Bishwajit Barman, Zilla Parishad President Biranchi Narayan Darobaan, Deputy Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, and Additional Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Jadumani, along with various departmental heads, officials, employees, students from local colleges and high schools, intellectuals, and media representatives.

The program highlighted yoga’s significant role in leading a stress-free life and promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This year’s theme focused on “Yoga for Self and Society”, emphasizing yoga’s contribution to a healthy planet.

Thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014. On this occasion, a national-level celebration was held in Visakhapatnam, and the Prime Minister’s address was streamed live on LED screens at the Mandei Padia ground at 6:30 AM, which was attentively watched by the gathering.

At 7:00 AM, three yoga instructors – Raj Mohan Bhatra, Satya Sethi, and Usharani Pradhan – demonstrated yoga exercises on stage, which were followed by around 1,000 registered yoga enthusiasts who practiced the routines enthusiastically. The session concluded with the chanting of peace mantras and an oath-taking ceremony.

As part of the celebration, essay writing, speech, and drawing competitions were conducted for high school students. The winners were awarded by the guests. The importance of making yoga a daily practice, not just for a day but as a habit for personal and collective well-being, was emphasized.

The entire event was organized under the leadership of District Sports Officer Sameer Patra.
