Bhubaneswar: Muniguda Railway Station in Rayagada district, under the Sambalpur Railway Division, will soon undergo a major transformation. The station will be given a completely new look and feel. Passengers waiting at the station will no longer face discomfort, as upgraded facilities including high-speed Wi-Fi and improved food and beverage options will be introduced.
East Coast Railway has emphasized integrated development focusing on modern infrastructure and passenger-centric amenities. Under the Amrit Station Scheme, Muniguda station is being redeveloped with an estimated cost of approximately ₹20.16 crore.
This initiative focuses on improving regional connectivity and modernizing the public transport infrastructure. As part of the Amrit Station Scheme, major stations in the state are undergoing redevelopment.
Key Features of the Redevelopment:

Transformation of the station building’s frontage
Construction of a new FOB (Foot Over Bridge), shelter area, and state-of-the-art toilets
Work has already begun on the ground
Platforms will be resurfaced
Installation of coach display boards and standard signage
Modern toilets and lifts to enhance passenger comfort
Construction of an overhead tank and sewage treatment plant (STP) with pipeline connections
Special attention will be given to the needs of differently-abled passengers and senior citizens, ensuring accessible and user-friendly facilities. The station will also feature modern waiting lounges, an improved ticketing system, and reconstructed entry points. Passengers will benefit from upgraded drop-off/pick-up lanes and improved parking facilities.
This important initiative aims to generate local employment, promote tourism, and support regional commerce through better infrastructure and connectivity.
