Jeypore: The parking problem at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) will soon be resolved. A multi-storey (multistoried) parking facility will be constructed within the DHH premises. A dedicated three-storey building will be built, where around 300 cars and bikes can be parked.
A formal letter has been sent to the State Directorate of Health Services from the DHH regarding this initiative. After departmental approval, further steps will be taken, said hospital assistant engineer Bishwaranjan Sadangi.
According to Mr. Sadangi, the DHH has nearly 1,000 staff, including doctors and nursing officers. Every day, more than 1,000 patients visit the hospital for health check-ups. Along with them, their attendants come and go regularly for indoor and outpatient care. As the hospital traffic continues to increase, the current parking arrangement is proving to be inadequate. The rising number of patients may lead to further congestion.
Considering this, a multi-storey parking proposal was prepared within the DHH campus. About six months ago, the proposal received green signal from the District Collector during a review meeting. A location near the new 7-storey building and under-construction Critical Care Block (CCB) at the backside of the DHH has been identified for this facility.
Discussions were held with the Public Works Department (PWD) three months ago regarding this. A request for a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and cost estimate has been submitted.
The proposed three-storey parking facility will be constructed over an area of approximately 14,000 square feet. It will accommodate both two-wheelers and light four-wheelers. Each floor will be connected with a ramp, and there will be separate entry and exit points.
The building will be equipped with CCTV cameras, bright lighting, and deployed security guards. Construction work will begin once the funding is approved.
