Baleshwar, 23rd Aug 2025: Despite availability of Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds for various development works in his constituency, a significant portion of the allocated funds in Baleshwar has remained unspent. This information comes from the District Development, Coordination, and Review Department.

The district oversight committee, chaired by MP Pratapchandra Sadarang, held a meeting today in the presence of the District Collector. The meeting highlighted discrepancies in fund utilization, raising questions about the MP’s performance.

For the 2023–24 financial year, Rs7.22 crore was available combining grants and interest, but only Rs2.40 crore (33.33Percent) was spent.

For 2024–25, out of Rs5.37 crore allocated, only Rs7 lakh (1.3Percent) was utilized.

Of the 5 sanctioned projects that year, 3 are in progress, while 2 have not yet started.

For 2025–26, out ofRs90 lakh allocated under MPLAD, only ₹5 lakh has been approved, and no expenditure has occurred so far.

With 4 months of the current financial year already passed, no significant MPLAD spending has taken place, prompting MLA Gautam Buddha Das to question the MP during the meeting.
