Delhi, 28th July 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now surpassed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in terms of the longest uninterrupted tenure as the head of government. While Indira Gandhi held the position for 4,777 consecutive days across her terms, Modi has reached a new milestone by completing 4,778 days
This achievement marks a significant chapter in India’s political history, highlighting Modi’s sustained leadership and electoral dominance over the past decade. His first term began on May 26, 2014, and he was re-elected in 2019 with an even stronger mandate.
With the 2024 elections behind him and a third term underway, Modi continues to shape India’s domestic and international policies with his signature style of governance.
Observers see this as a testament to his political resilience and continued public support, though comparisons with past leaders remain a matter of public and historical debate.
