Dabugaon, Feb, 16: –  A  mock drill was conducted by the Dabugaon Fire Service unit at the Boripadar Ashram School premises under Dabugaon block of Nabarangpur district to create awareness among students about fire and disaster safety.

During the program, Fire Officer Himanshu Shekhar Nayak and fire personnel Mansingh Sabar, Madhusudan Bagarti, Kailash Q., Satyapriya Pradhan, and fire driver Prasanna Kumar Biswal demonstrated various rescue and safety techniques. These included methods of rescuing trapped persons from deep locations, cutting fallen trees on roads using equipment, extinguishing gas cylinder fires, controlling oil fires, dousing house fires using water hoses, handling small fire incidents, rescuing unconscious persons from rooftops, and carrying out rescue operations during floods, cyclones, and accidents. Students were given detailed practical explanations and demonstrations.

The program was attended by Headmistress Bijayini Barad and teachers Lachhanddei Majhi, Kanchanprabha Nayak, Leena Pattnaik, Durjan Bhatra, and Laxmikant Padia.
Intellectuals present expressed that if such awareness programs are conducted in every school, students would develop courage and a spirit of service, and would be able to help protect life and property in emergencies.
