Jeypore, 14th Aug 2025:MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati reviewed the ongoing restoration work of the much-talked-about Jagannath Sagar in Jeypore town, Koraput district. He was accompanied by Jeypore Municipality Chairperson Narendra Kumar Mohanty, Jeypore Sub-Collector and Municipal Executive Officer Sushree Akbaram Sasy Rengi, the municipal engineer, and other officials.
Bahinipati praised the Sub-Collector, an IAS officer, for her dedicated and efficient work in advancing Jeypore’s development, noting her hands-on approach and commitment. Addressing the public discussions and speculations surrounding the Jagannath Sagar project, he compared it to earlier skepticism about projects like the MG Road and Jaynagar road works, saying such comments don’t deter them — they will continue to work for the people.
The restoration is being executed by a reputed contractor, and its quality is already visible to residents. The state government had called a tender worth ₹8.40 crore for the project, which was awarded to a contractor from Kalahandi district at 0.99% below the estimate. The completion deadline is six months. The MLA has instructed the contractor to work until 2 a.m. if necessary to ensure timely completion.
Bahinipati assured that he has always been committed to fulfilling the long-standing demands of Jeypore residents and the Jagannath Sagar Trust activists, whose movement for the restoration has been ongoing for years.
