Bhubaneswar, Dec, 12: The government has increased the salary and allowances of MLAs.
The bill to revise the salary and allowances of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker has been passed.
The bill to revise the salary and allowances of Odisha ministers has also been passed.
The bill was presented by Union Minister of Commerce, Mukesh Mahalings.
The salary of an MLA has been increased from Rs 1,11,000 to Rs 2,78,000.
Allowances during the session have been increased from Rs 150 to Rs 3,000.
Daily tour allowance: Rs 2,000; for travel outside the state: Rs 10,000.
Monthly vehicle allowance has been increased from Rs 15,000 toRs 50,000.
Electricity bill reimbursement has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000.
Medical expenses allowance has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 35,000.
Car purchase allowance has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
MLAs not provided with official quarters will receive Rs 2,000 per day as residence allowance.
