MLA Demands Immediate Power and Health Infrastructure Boost for Malkangiri

Malkangiri, 26th July 2025: Malkangiri MLA Narsingha Madkami has urged the state government to address critical electricity and healthcare issues in the district. In a written memorandum submitted to Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, he demanded immediate action on several fronts.

The MLA pointed out the irregular installation of electricity poles and high-voltage wires on private lands without proper consent, which has disrupted the construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other housing schemes. He urged the government to conduct a thorough survey and bear the relocation costs to resolve this issue.

In the healthcare sector, the MLA raised concerns about the shortage of specialist doctors and medical equipment at the District Headquarters Hospital. Key vacancies include:

  • Anesthesiologist
  • Radiologist
  • Orthopedic surgeon
  • General surgeon
  • Blood component separator operators
  • Paramedical staff

This shortage has severely impacted the delivery of health services in the district. Just last month, more than 30 pregnant women had to be referred to Koraput due to inadequate facilities.

The MLA has demanded immediate appointment of required medical personnel and supply of necessary equipment. He emphasized that fulfilling these demands would play a crucial role in the development of Malkangiri district and improvement of its healthcare system.

Local residents have expressed hope that the government will act swiftly on these issues.
