Ministers Distribute Ration Cards, Input Aid to Farmers in Raighar Block

Raighar, 9th Aug 2025: Odisha Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushnachandra Patra and School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond visited the Raighar block of Nabarangpur district today.

They were welcomed with traditional musical instruments and dance near the Jagannath Temple in Raighar. Each minister was ceremonially offered a traditional honorarium of Rs 800. On the occasion, 25 new beneficiaries received ration cards from the ministers.

A major issue discussed was the non-payment to farmers who had sold paddy during the last kharif season at Raighar mandi. Due to administrative lapses, many were yet to receive their dues. Upon learning about this, Minister Patra instructed officials to release the pending payments immediately.

In a public gathering later, the ministers also distributed input assistance funds to 358 farmers of Raighar block under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme, providing aid per quintal of paddy sold.

The visit also included a bike rally and listening to the Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat” programme. The entire programme was attended by Nabarangpur MLA Gaurishankar Majhi, Jharigaon MLA Narsingha Bhatra, former MP Parshuram Majhi, MP representative Pritisnigdha Mahapatra, and Sontosh Mahapatra, among others.
