Baipariguda:Jan, 15: A Millet Procurement Mandi has been inaugurated at Hatpada in Baipariguda by the Subajima Producer Company under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha. The programme was presided over by Mani Majhi, Chairperson of Subajima Producer Company.
The Chief Guest of the event was Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyaban Mahajan. The Guests of Honour included the District Agriculture Officer, Block Chairman Prashant Kumar Gupta, BDO Subrat Sahu, Vice-Chairperson Purnima Barik, Zilla Parishad Member Mani Jani, Nabarangpur MP’s representative Narendra Kandalia, Kotpad MLA’s representative C.H. Prabhakar Rao, Koraput MLA’s representative Umesh Pattnaik, Sarpanch Suryamani Nayak, Samiti Member Manjulata Pattnaik, Block Agriculture Officer, WASAN District Project Coordinator, CYSD South Odisha Coordinator Ramesh Chandra Swain, TDCC Coordinator Ashutosh Nanda, among others.
In the block, millet mandis will be opened at four locations — Baipariguda, Baligaon, Ramgiri and Dasamantapur. A target has been set to procure 40 quintals of millet from these four mandis. A total of 2,985 farmers have registered to sell their millet. On Friday, 137 quintals of millet were procured from 7 farmers.
All officials and staff of CYSD extended their cooperation in the smooth conduct of the programme.
