Baipariguda: The dead body of a migrant worker who lost his life after falling from a moving train has reached his village following the intervention of the local MLA. The final rites were performed in a grief-stricken atmosphere upon the arrival of the body.
According to sources, Binod Khara (43), a resident of Kurkuti village under Bodaput Panchayat in Baipariguda police limits, had been working as a mason for a contractor in Lonavala, Maharashtra, for many years. A few days ago, Binod had returned home. While traveling back from Visakhapatnam to Lonavala by train on the 16th at around 2 PM, he accidentally slipped and fell off the train near Pune railway station, leading to his immediate death on the spot.
Railway police at Pune arrived at the scene and, during the investigation, found an Aadhaar card and a pocket diary in Binod’s bag. The diary contained phone numbers of a few people from Kurkuti village. Using those numbers, the police informed the villagers about the incident. The tragic news left Binod’s family in shock. Family members and villagers approached Baipariguda police station, requesting assistance in bringing Binod’s body home.
Upon receiving this information, Koraput MLA Raghuram Mach immediately contacted the Mumbai railway police. The Mumbai Railway SP arranged for the post-mortem and ensured that the body was transported to Kurkuti village. The labor officer in Jeypore facilitated the handing over of the body to the family.
MLA Mach also coordinated with the government to approve Rs39,000 for the ambulance charges. Additionally, the Red Cross provided Rs10,000 to the family for funeral expenses. Sarpanch Krishna Bhatri of Bodaput Panchayat also extended his support in ensuring the body’s return to the village.
