Nabarangpur, Jan 27: Residents of Papadahandi town in Nabarangpur district submitted a memorandum to the Member of Parliament highlighting several pressing concerns.
As per reports, National Highway No. 26, which passes through Papadahandi town, is proposed to be expanded into a four-lane road. Additionally, under the upcoming Junagarh–Jeypore railway project, the proposed railway station is planned to be located 8 kilometers away from Papadahandi instead of near the town. Locals have strongly objected to these decisions.
They stated that if the four-lane highway passes through the middle of Papadahandi town, more than 200 business establishments, houses, and three temples would be completely affected. Many residents may lose their homes and have no place left to live.
Therefore, villagers collectively demanded the construction of a bypass road for Papadahandi, with the bypass itself to be developed as a four-lane road. They also proposed that the railway station be set up on more than 50 acres of available government land at Daleyiguda instead of far from the town. Other demands included the establishment of a postmortem house in Papadahandi and the provision of a शव carrier vehicle (hearse vehicle) for the area.
The memorandum was submitted under the leadership of former leader Ganamohan Rao. Among those present were Block Vice-Chairman Sushanta Kumar Behera, former Sarpanch B. Jagalingraj Bhatra, former President Trinath Pradhan, former Sarpanch Shiv Prasad Agrawal, MP’s representative Somanath Pujari, Mandal President Manoj Agrawal, Ajay Bishoi, Kisan Agrawal, Tiru Pattnaik, Lalmohammad Khan, Bibhuti Panda, Hari Panigrahi, Jagannath Bishoi, Gudu Gupta, Bijay Bishoi, Lingaraj Panigrahi, Maheshwar Hota, Mahendra Bishoi, Subrat Jena, Rinku Singh, Rishnu Nayak, Luka Bhatra, V.
