Malkangiri: There is a demand to preserve and promote the traditional clothes, ornaments, weapons, and art culture of the ancient Didai tribe, which is on the verge of extinction, and to showcase it to the world. For the establishment of a Didai Museum in Gangapada village of Nakamamudi Panchayat, a memorandum was handed over to ITDA Project Administrator Haldhar Shabara.

The memorandum mentions that the ancient Didai tribal community resides in 20 villages of Nakamamudi Panchayat in Korukonda block of the district. Among these, Gangapada is the oldest village. If a museum is set up there, it will help preserve and develop the fading art culture over time. Heritage, lifestyle, traditional art, and tools will be invested in the educational field.

Researchers, students, and the general public will benefit from this. The development of tourism and increased awareness will promote regional progress. It will also contribute to the growth of the Didai community.

Arjun Baj, Man Palasi, Ravi Bishoyi, Lachha Chalan, Ghasi Bishoyi, Anga Bishoyi, women, Shanka Majhi, Anga Chalan, the village headman, and others were present during the memorandum submission and were honored.
