Cuttack,5th Nov 2025: The Board of Secondary Education has realized that in order to enhance students’ competency, they need to be freed from rote learning and their comprehension and analytical skills should be developed. Accordingly, the board has decided to follow NCERT guidelines so that students studying in Odia medium can demonstrate national-level competency similar to CBSE students.
Under this system, matriculation question papers will be structured in the same format as the Class 10 CBSE board examinations. Since competency-based question papers are being prepared, teachers will be required to focus more on classroom teaching rather than just textbook memorization, according to an education official.
On this occasion, the Board organized a five-day workshop with Vivek Gupta, a senior NCERT official from Delhi, and Sachidran K.S. from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The workshop, which began yesterday, was inaugurated by the Board Chairman, Mr. Srikant Tarai.
During the workshop, 58 experts from across the state received guidance from central education authorities and NCERT officials on strategies for preparing question papers under the new NCERT framework. Initially, the continuous question bank will be prepared only for Class 10 students.
