Bhubaneswar, 11th Nov 2025:  Massive Passenger Amenity Centres will soon be constructed at 76 railway stations across India. Each of these stations will be capable of accommodating up to 7,000 passengers at a time. Over 150 toilets will be available for both men and women. Various parts of these stations will feature modern ticket counters and automatic ticket vending machines, ensuring that passengers can easily purchase tickets without having to stand in long queues.

Passengers will also have access to free purified RO drinking water at these stations. The construction work at all 76 stations is expected to be completed before the 2026 festive season.

Among these selected stations, three belong to the East Coast Railway Zone — Bhubaneswar, Puri (in Odisha), and Visakhapatnam (in Andhra Pradesh). This information was shared by Railway Minister Ashwini Kumar Vaishnaw while addressing media persons in New Delhi on Thursday.

According to the Minister, all these Passenger Amenity Centres will be built following the model of the facility at New Delhi Railway Station, which has proven to be highly successful. During recent festivals like Diwali and Chhath Puja, the New Delhi station managed huge passenger crowds efficiently, prompting the Ministry of Railways to replicate this model nationwide.

While planning these centres, the Ministry has carefully considered the needs of passengers — both before starting their journey and after arriving at their destination. Special emphasis will be placed on comfortable rest areas and pre-boarding facilities, ensuring a convenient and pleasant travel experience for all passengers, the Minister added.
