Mass Sit-In Enters Second Day in Gania, Villagers Highlight Panchayat Issues

Gania: Badasilinga Panchayat under Gania Block, known for its tribal and forest-surrounded geography, continues to face unresolved basic issues. As a result, under the leadership of the Bharatiya Vikash Parishad, a mass sit-in protest has been ongoing for two consecutive days—Tuesday and Wednesday—demanding immediate administrative solutions to the various problems faced by villages in the Panchayat.

The protestors have raised multiple demands, including construction of proper roads to remote villages, electricity connections, appointment of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, mobile tower installation and activation, drinking water issues, kendu leaf collection centers, ponds, community halls, Swachh Bharat toilets, housing under government schemes, forest land patta distribution, irrigation facilities, and provision of an ambulance for Badasilinga. Additionally, they have called for a vigilance inquiry into the mud roads constructed by the Forest and Wildlife Department and the transfer of the concerned forest division officer.

Leading the protest were Bharatiya Vikash Parishad State President Surendra Kumar Panigrahi, Vice-President Niranjan Dash, District Chairperson Kanakalata Pradhan, State Youth Leader Sunita Pattnaik, Badasilinga Sarpanch Sasmita Sahu, and Samiti Member Janaki Dehuri.

Although Gania BDO Sagar Kumar Nanda, Nayagarh Wildlife Division Officer Phalguni Sarathi Mallik, Assistant Forest Conservator Debi Prasad Raut, Sub-divisional officers, BSNL representative Sameer Kumar Dalei, Gania (ACF) Forest Officer Suman Majhi, Chamundia Forest Officer Lakshminarayan Panda, and Gania Electricity Department Engineer Satyajit Mohanty, along with Block Chairperson Jhuna Jena, reached the protest site and held discussions with the people, no concrete resolution was achieved according to reports.

Bharatiya Vikash Parishad Vice-President Niranjan Dash stated that the sit-in will continue indefinitely in front of the Block Office until their demands are fulfilled.
