Mass Education Secretary Meets Teachers’ Association; Threat of Agitation if Demands Not Met Before Assembly Session

Bhubaneswar: The Primary School Teachers’ Association (PISTA) has submitted a 9-point charter of demands, which includes:

Regular appointment of teachers in primary education

Regularization of contractual (SMATRIC) teachers

Providing salaries to all primary teachers under the central pay scale

Earlier, the association had issued a warning of agitation if their demands were not fulfilled.

Today, a meeting was held between the association and the Secretary of School and Mass Education Department. Following the discussion, the association has decided to temporarily postpone the proposed protest.

However, the association has clearly warned that if the demands are not fulfilled before the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly, they will resume their agitation.

The meeting was led by association president Brahmananda Maharana, and attended by General Secretary Bibhuprasar Prasad Sahu, Vice-President Agadhu Sethy, Ganjam District President Hemanta Sethy, Baluri Barik, and others.
