Mass All-Party Gathering Scheduled in Lakshmipur on 12th

Koraput/10th Sept 2025: Leaders from all political parties and local residents are preparing to raise their voices against the state government. This unified stance comes in response to reports that, during the Chief Minister’s recent visit to Koraput, discussions were underway to increase the mining capacity of the Kodinga Mali mines from 3 million tons to 6 million tons.

In protest, leaders from various parties across the region have come together. On the 10th of this month, representatives and local residents from Rayagada and Koraput districts submitted a memorandum to the respective District Collectors expressing their objections. However, due to police restrictions imposed in view of the Governor’s visit, the planned gathering was rescheduled to the 12th instead of the 10th. On this day, a massive gathering will be organized, and the memorandum will be submitted addressing the Chief Minister.

Prominent political figures such as MLA Pavitra Sauta, former MP Jhina Hikaka, and former MLA Kailash Kulesika were present during today’s coordination meeting along with other leaders. While several leaders claimed that there are neither factories nor sufficient mines in the region, Kulesika openly stated that before engaging in party politics, leaders must first fight for the rights to land and resources, warning against secret backdoor dealings.

MLA Pavitra Sauta and other leaders warned against a repeat of the Singaram incident, expressing concerns over increasing unrest in the area due to internal betrayal and hidden agendas. Some leaders even demanded that mining operations, even at the current capacity of 3 million tons, should be immediately halted.

Despite the presence of leaders lacking genuine commitment, many locals have alleged that internal dealings are leading to instability in the region. Pradeep Bagh, a representative of the Kodinga Mali Suraksha Manch, expressed that although the awakening among leaders has come late, it’s a welcome change. He appreciated the growing public awareness and support toward protecting regional interests.

Now, all eyes are on this upcoming all-party gathering in Lakshmipur on the 12th, as the direction it takes will determine the future course of action in the region.
