Bhubaneswar,26th July 2025: With the state BJP president Manmohan Samal on a two-day Delhi visit, speculation is mounting about a possible cabinet reshuffle and appointments to various corporations. Samal is accompanied by state BJP organization secretary Manas Mahanti, further fueling discussions of significant political developments.
While the BJP has not officially disclosed the purpose of the visit, sources indicate that the reshuffling of ministers and distribution of posts in state-run corporations is high on the agenda.
Earlier this week, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met the Governor at Raj Bhavan, followed by another meeting with three cabinet ministers, reportedly discussing governance and pending decisions. On the same note, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari also met the Governor today, adding to the flurry of high-level interactions.
High-Level Meetings & Key Discussions
During his Delhi tour, Samal is expected to meet senior BJP national leaders, including Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, to discuss party strategy, governance matters, and organizational planning. The upcoming ministerial changes, corporation appointments, and internal coordination are believed to be part of the deliberations.
With six ministerial posts still vacant in the Odisha Cabinet, talks of new ministerial appointments are gaining momentum. Reliable sources suggest that:
Eight new ministers may be inducted.
Three current ministers could resign to pave the way for a reshuffle.
A recent controversy over crimes against women, which triggered public outcry, reportedly delayed the expansion. However, renewed meetings and national-level consultations point toward imminent changes in the state government.
Samal’s return from Delhi could coincide with a final decision and formal announcements regarding the reshuffle and appointments. Political observers believe that major administrative and political changes are likely within the next two days, signaling a new phase of governance under the BJP-led Odisha government.
