Nabarangpur : Tension has once again escalated at Mangalam Timber, the only factory in the district, over the termination of one worker and the transfer of three others. Timber workers have launched a protest demanding the reinstatement of the terminated employee and cancellation of the transfers.
Despite the intervention of District Collector Dr. Subhankar Mahapatra, SP Mihir Panda, and MLA Gaurishankar Majhi, the issue remains unresolved. Participating in the tripartite discussion were Additional District Collector, Sub-Collector, Mangalam Timber Employees’ Association Advisor Manas Dash, President Tibu Nayak, Secretary Sanjay Pothal, Treasurer Raman Pattnayak, Unit Head SP Singh, and HR Manager Dilip Patra.
As the discussions failed to yield a solution, operations at the timber unit have been disrupted, and efforts are being made to intensify the protest. The Unit Head stated that the demands and actions taken against the workers have been reported to higher authorities and headquarters, and a decision will be taken accordingly
