Mandatory Health Checkup for Teachers Applying for Medical Transfers

Bhubaneswar:  For the academic year 2025–26, headmasters and assistant teachers of secondary and upper primary schools who have applied for inter-district transfer on terminal illness grounds will undergo health examinations.

The Directorate of Secondary Education has written to the State Medical Board in this regard. As per the School and Mass Education Department’s guidelines, an online transfer application process has been launched for headmasters and teachers. In the transfer instructions, it has been specified that applications under terminal illness grounds (for self, spouse, or child) or disability grounds (for spouse or child) will be subject to medical verification.

A total of 281 headmasters and assistant teachers have applied for inter-district transfer under these grounds. The list of these applicants has been submitted to the State Medical Board. A dedicated medical board will examine these cases, and the Directorate has requested that a report be submitted within two weeks.

Final decisions on these transfer applications will be made by the State-Level Transfer Committee based on the medical board’s report.
