Man Trampled to Death by Elephant in Dhenkanal While Attending Nature’s Call

Dhenkanal, 8th Oct 2025:  In a heartbreaking incident from Damal village, under the Dihadol Forest Section of the Mahabiroad Range, Dhenkanal district, a man was trampled to death by a wild elephant early in the morning.

The deceased has been identified as Panchanan Samal, a resident of Damal village. According to sources, Panchanan had gone to the banks of the Brahmani River to relieve himself when he was suddenly attacked by a rogue elephant. The attack was so severe that he died on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, forest department officials arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

This incident has sparked fear and panic among the villagers, as rogue elephants have been increasingly encroaching upon human settlements. Villagers are now living in constant anxiety, especially during early morning and late evening hours.

The locals have urged the government to provide immediate financial assistance and support to the bereaved family, as well as take steps to ensure better protection from wild animal threats.
