Dabugaon: A tragic road accident occurred near the daily market on the Borigaon Road in Dabugaon, Nabarangpur district, where a man was crushed under the wheels of a speeding tipper truck. The deceased was identified as Raju Yadav (53), a resident of High School Road in Dabugaon. Following the incident, his body was kept at the market square for over five hours by family members and locals demanding compensation.
Raju Yadav ran a snack stall on the roadside near the Borigaon–High School Road and was supporting his family through this small business. Around 11 AM today, while crossing the road in front of his shop, he was hit by a speeding tipper truck (registration number OD-26G-3630) heading towards Borigaon from Dabugaon. He fell under the vehicle and was crushed to death on the spot. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Since today was the weekly market day in Dabugaon, a large crowd gathered at the accident site. Raju’s family kept the body on the road, demanding monetary compensation. Despite efforts by the police to persuade them to clear the road, the protest continued.
Finally, the Sarpanch of Dangriguda, Ram Kumar Ganda, offered ₹3,000 from the Harishchandra Yojana, and RI Chaitanya Behera from Dabugaon provided ₹10,000 from the Red Cross Fund. Only after these payments, around 4 PM, did the family allow the road blockade to be lifted.
Raju’s son Pinku Yadav later filed a written complaint at Dabugaon Police Station, and a case (Case No. 145/25) was registered. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem, after which it was handed over to the family. ASI Gopal Krishna Halwa is currently investigating the incident.
