Malkangiri: In Malkangiri, World No Tobacco Day was observed yesterday at the district headquarters hospital. A awareness rally was organized that took a procession through the main roads of Malkangiri town and culminated at the district headquarters hospital, where the World No Tobacco Day was formally celebrated.
The program was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, District Chief Medical Officer Brajbandhu Dash. Under his leadership, the event was attended by Dr. Abid Husain, Food Safety Officer Prabhas Kumar Sethi, Dr. Lelup Satapathy, Dr. Mousumi Mishra, Dr. Durgaprasad Rajang, along with a number of students.
Following this, a departmental awareness program was held in the hospital auditorium. Discussions focused on how to keep teenagers and adolescents away from tobacco in the coming days, and how to officially declare the routes leading to schools and colleges as tobacco-free zones.
Finally, a quiz competition was organized on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day. Outstanding students were awarded prizes in recognition of their performance.
