Malkangiri, Feb, 23:A d istrict-level Fishery and Animal Resources Fair has been inaugurated at the local Adivasi ground. The program was organized under the chairmanship of District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay. Guests present on the occasion included MP ’s representative Sanjay Sarkar, MLA’s representatives Nimai Pal and Binayak Patra, and Balimela NAC Chairperson Pradeep Nayak, among others. Chief District Veterinary Officer Gagan Charan Nayak delivered the welcome address. Various departmental schemes were highlighted at the fair.
The guests said that farmers should take advantage of government schemes. If they become self-reliant, it will contribute to the economic growth of the state and the country.
Several exhibition stalls of the Animal Resources Department were set up. The displays included Shankar breed cows, Gir cows, crossbred calves, ponies, goats, different varieties of poultry, ducks, and other livestock, which attracted many farmers.
Similarly, the Fisheries Department organized live demonstrations with aquariums showing different varieties of fish and modern fish-farming models including biotech methods. Stalls related to horticulture and the Millet Mission sold various products. A farmer demonstrated preparation of sweets made from millets (mandia), which drew public attention.
Stalls were also set up for the Chief Minister’s Kamadhenu Scheme, Animal Resource Development schemes, and OMFED. Departmental officers and staff assisted in managing the event. District Fisheries Officer Sudhanshu Mallik delivered the vote of thanks.
