Malkangiri: The 19th National Statistics Day was observed in the District Council Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Mr. Pradhan.

The event commenced with lamp lighting before Lord Jagannath by the chief guest.
In his keynote address, ADM (Revenue) Mr. Pradhan stated that statistics is a practical tool of measurement, and its proper collection, analysis, and validation are essential for effective planning and implementation. He emphasized that it is crucial for the welfare of society, and every field is influenced by accurate statistical data.
Deputy Director of Planning and Statistics, Mr. Golak Chandra Dalai, in his welcome speech, explained how statistics is deeply linked to everyday life and plays a vital role in planning, execution, and tracking national and global development goals. He noted that the more transparent and accurate statistical data is, the more efficient and effective our plans and their execution will be, enabling us to achieve our desired goals and progress.
He also highlighted the importance of National Statistics Day, marking the 35th anniversary of the National Sample Survey, and spoke on the strengthening of the statistical system.
During the event, District Supply Officer Prashant Chandra Mahalanobis was remembered as a pioneer in the field of statistics. He also presented statistical data related to district food and consumer cardholders and linked this with the Food Security Scheme for a Developed India.
