Prayagraj: Millions of devotees who believe in Sanatan Dharma have gathered at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj not just from India but from all over the world to take a holy dip. If we compare the number of bathers to the total population of India, nearly 50% of the country’s people have bathed in the Triveni Sangam. By Wednesday evening, the number of bathers had reached 66.21 crore (662.1 million).

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that this number exceeds the population of most countries except India and China. From the perspective of attendance, this Mahakumbh will be recorded in history. Nowhere else in the world has such a large gathering of people been seen within 45 days in a temporary city built for the occasion.

This number is many times greater than the population of several countries. Nowhere in history has 660 million devotees gathered at a single location. This figure is more than 10 times the population of Britain and over 15 times that of France.

If we talk about Sanatan Dharma, over 60% of India’s population has participated in this holy dip. This number has set a new world record in terms of attendance.

More than 55% of Sanatan followers worldwide have participated in this sacred bath. When compared to different countries, this number surpasses the total population of several nations. The number of attendees is more than twice the population of the USA, 2.5 times that of Pakistan, and four times the population of Russia. Additionally, it is five times the population of Japan.

For 45 days, devotees from around the world have gathered for this festival. The King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, along with diplomats from 73 countries, attended the event to take the Amrit Snan. More than 50 lakh (5 million) devotees from Nepal have also participated. Apart from that, pilgrims from Italy, France, Britain, Portugal, America, Israel, Iran, and Mauritius, among other countries, have arrived to take part in this grand spiritual gathering.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier predicted that this divine and magnificent Mahakumbh would set a new world record in terms of the number of bathers. Initially, he estimated 45 crore (450 million) devotees, but this number far exceeded expectations. On February 11, the attendance crossed 45 crore, and by February 22, it surpassed 60 crore (600 million). On Maha Shivratri, the attendance reached 66.21 crore, creating a new world record.
