Kalimela, Jan, 10:A 30-foot tall Shiva idol, located atop the Tagurkota hill in Manyamkonda Panchayat, Kalimela block, is now mesmerizing tourists. The idol is depicted sitting on a tiger skin, making it especially striking. Around it, four domes and two viewpoint areas in front further enhance the beauty of the site.

The idol has been constructed on a large black granite rock, and the block administration is currently spending around ₹25 lakh on beautification work. While railing construction is ongoing, road construction is also in progress.

Currently, there is no electricity, so tourists cannot enjoy the site at night. Drinking water and other basic amenities are also unavailable. Despite this, the unique natural beauty of the area is highly appealing, and according to Chiranjivi Malik, it is no less spectacular than Kailashgiri. He expressed happiness about visiting Tagurkota with his family for the first time.

According to Harishchandra Bhumia and Lakshmidhar Madakami, if the surroundings are further beautified, Tagurkota could become a popular tourist destination in the district. Villagers from Balraju, Potraju, and Kanamaraju often visit the hill near Polluru village in Andhra Pradesh to take a bath in the natural streams.

Next year, during the famous Ganaparva festival and the grand Yatra in Malkangiri district, the giant Shiva idol at Tagurkota is expected to attract many tourists.
