Subarnapur, 25th Sept 2025: On the second day of Navaratri, while the recitation of Saptashati Chandiyajna continues at the sacred seat of Maa Sureshwari in Sonepur, the temple was opened early this morning. After the rituals and worship were completed as per tradition, Maa Sureshwari appeared before the devotees today in the divine form of Brahmacharini.
On this second day of the nine-day-long Chandi Mahayajna, various rituals such as Surya Puja (sun worship), Go Puja (cow worship), Guru and Brahmin Puja, worship of different deities, and the traditional Shodashopachara Puja (16-step worship) of Maa Sureshwari were performed. Evening rituals around 6 PM will include Chandi Yajna, Havan, Aarti, Pushpanjali (offering of flowers), and distribution of Prasad, according to information from the temple committee.
Similarly, at the ancient shrine of Maa Bhagabati in the town, the Goddess also gave darshan to the devotees in the Brahmacharini form. At the Durga Temple located in Gadabhitar area of the town, Maa Durga is also worshipped in the Brahmacharini attire on this second day of Navaratri.
