In many areas, some farmers have begun harvesting ripe maize early and shifting it to safe places. Those who can are milling and packing maize into bags to prevent loss. In Nabarangpur district, while paddy is not yet ready for harvesting, maize has fully ripened. This is the time when farmers typically harvest, mill, and sell maize in the market. However, fearing potential heavy rains, many have already started harvesting and drying their maize wherever they can find space, preparing to secure their produce before the weather worsens.
