Bhubaneswar,Nov 22 : A low-pressure system is likely to form over the southeastern Bay of Bengal by 22nd November. This system is expected to move northwestwards, intensify, and by 24th November, it may turn into a depression over the central part of the southern Bay of Bengal, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
Professor Surendranath Pashupalak stated that a cyclonic circulation will form over the southern Bay of Bengal on 21st November and may intensify into a depression by 24th November. Initial assessments suggest that it could affect the Andhra Pradesh coast. However, even if it touches the Andhra coast, its impact will extend over Odisha. On 27th November, rain with cloudy skies is expected over Kendrapara, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. On 28th November, rainfall may occur over some northern and western districts of Odisha, while Ganjam and Gajapati may continue to be affected on 29th November. Heavy rainfall is possible in coastal and adjoining districts.
Until Thursday night, the state’s minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 2°C and 4°C, remaining unchanged until 25th November. On the night of 26th November, minimum temperatures in several places may again rise by 2°C to 4°C, and the cold may slightly decrease. On the other hand, the cold wave in the state has slightly eased. Recently, the lowest temperatures recorded in various places were: 7.1°C at G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal, 7.7°C at Daringbadi, 8.5°C at Phulbani, 9°C at Anugul, 10.6°C at Bhawanipatna and 11°C at Nabarangpur, 11.2°C at Chipilima, 11.6°C at Jharsuguda, 12°C at Koraput. The minimum temperature recorded in Cuttack city was 14.4°C, and in Bhubaneswar it was 15.2°C.
