Puri: Lord Niladrinath (Lord Jagannath) will conquer Nilachala (Nilakandara) on Tuesday, marking the completion of the annual Rath Yatra rituals. Following this, Mahaprabhu (the Lord) will appease Goddess Mahalaxmi, who had earlier expressed displeasure, by offering her Rasgulla as part of the ‘manabhanjana’ (reconciliation) ritual. This beautiful, symbolic human-like divine play will be witnessed at the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) of the temple.

After 12 days of divine play outside the temple during the Rath Yatra, the Chaturdha Murtis (four deities) will be escorted back to the Ratna Singhasana (jeweled throne) inside the sanctum in a grand ritual called Niladri Bije through a ceremonial Pahandi procession.

Preparations for Niladri Bije began today after the completion of Adharapana (a ritual offering of a special drink to the deities). A special schedule of rituals has been arranged in the temple for this event. On Tuesday, the Trayodashi day, Mangala Alati (early morning prayer) will be performed at 4 a.m. to begin the day’s spiritual activities.

With Niladri Bije, the final ritual of the Rath Yatra, the 12-day journey and divine play of the three Lords comes to a ceremonial end.
