Sunabeda: Residents of Sunabeda in Koraput district are demanding the reopening of an old road that provides access to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Sunabeda. This road was a vital connection for people from several areas including Church Colony, Bapuji Colony, Police Camp, DP Camp, Rajiv Colony, Ganjam Colony, Housing Board, Board Colony, and Choura Line. However, for the past few years, the road has remained closed in front of the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Center, causing inconvenience to local residents trying to reach the health facility.

Locals say that when the road was open, they could quickly reach the CHC and avail treatment in time. But now, with the route blocked, they have to travel longer distances, which is especially problematic during emergencies.

In addition to access issues, water scarcity has become a daily problem at the CHC, further hampering treatment. Even for minor health issues, patients are often referred to the Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical Center in Koraput, adding extra burden and costs for the people.

Residents also complained that the CHC lacks basic infrastructure and necessary facilities. Patients are not receiving timely treatment, and staff negligence is reportedly affecting the quality of care.

To address these challenges, locals have appealed to the Sunabeda Municipal Council and the Koraput district administration. They have also urged the state government to take necessary action to resolve these issues. The community believes that reopening the old road will improve access to the health center, and that enhanced water supply and facilities will allow people to depend on the local CHC for basic healthcare needs.

Residents of Sunabeda remain hopeful that their demands will be addressed soon.
