Locals Demand Jhadeshwarpur Be Declared a Separate Panchayat

Mahanga,29th Aug 2025:  A demand has been raised before the state government to grant Jhadeshwarpur village, presently under Bhadreshwar Panchayat of Mahanga block, the status of a new panchayat.

It has been highlighted that in Mahanga block, some panchayats were created earlier with less population than Jhadeshwarpur.

As per the 2021 Census, the population of Jhadeshwarpur village was 3,365, with 1,714 males and 1,651 females. Currently, the village has 8 wards, each with a significant population. If these wards are reorganized, it is estimated that Jhadeshwarpur alone could have 90–91 wards.

Locals believe that if a fresh census is conducted, the village population would cross 4,000.

Since the state government is now giving priority to the formation of new panchayats, the people of the area have appealed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister to declare Jhadeshwarpur as an independent panchayat, while also granting block status to Bhadreshwar.
